A note on footwear! Our venue has loads of charm, but that includes garden areas and a small slope between the ceremony and the cocktail hour (the ground is uneven).

Para comer bien Eating well

Gastronomía local

Local cuisine

If there's one thing this area does well, it's food.

Here are the dishes you absolutely cannot miss.

Mariscos

Seafood

Tenemos el Mediterráneo a pocos metros. Gamba roja, quisquillas, cigalas, langostinos, mejillones...

The Mediterranean is just metres away. Red prawns, shrimp, langoustines, king prawns, mussels...

You can try them at any of the restaurants we listed a little further up.

Arroz a banda

Arroz a banda

The star dish of the region.

Rice cooked in a rock fish and dried pepper broth, often served with alioli or a squeeze of lemon, though the truly great ones need nothing extra at all.

Arroz negro

Black rice

Rice cooked with squid ink.

For those of you crossing the Atlantic, it might look a bit odd at first, but we promise the flavour is spectacular.

Boquerones en vinagre

Marinated anchovies

The classic appetiser tapa.

Fresh anchovy fillets marinated in vinegar, garlic, and olive oil. They go with everything and are incredibly refreshing.

Marinera

Marinera

The quintessential Murcian tapa that we eat here daily: a crunchy breadstick round topped with Russian salad and crowned with a good anchovy.

It sounds like an odd combo, but it tastes amazing. If anchovy's not your thing, ask for a "bicicleta" instead.

Blanco y Negro

Blanco y Negro

The ultimate summer drink.

Iced coffee blended with horchata-style milk ice cream and a hint of cinnamon. Served very cold, it's perfect after lunch, and fair warning: it's addictive.

Torrevieja enjoys one of the sunniest and driest climates in the entire peninsula.

On September 12th there is every chance we will have a perfect day: pleasant warmth, clear skies, and that spectacular golden Mediterranean light to accompany us into the evening.

Our packing tips

To travel light and comfortable, we recommend packing versatile pieces:

Daytime: Light, cool, comfortable clothing for strolling through town or going out for tapas.

Beach time: Swimsuit and sunglasses are absolutely essential (the Mediterranean water is perfect this time of year, though not quite as warm as the Caribbean!).

Evening: A very light jacket, windbreaker, or shawl. Even though it's warm during the day, the sea breeze after sunset makes the evenings pleasant but slightly cooler.

Exploring: If you plan to visit the lagoons or walk the trails, throw some trainers in your bag. And for the wedding day, remember our advice about block heels or wedges!
